Print only sections of a document

Save on your printer ink by selectively printing in Windows programs such as Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, WordPad, Outlook, etc. To do this -  assign portions of text you wish to print and click print. In the printer dialog window under Page Range choose the option Selection. It is important to realize that not all programs or printer drivers support this feature.

Entering Dates

Select the cell(s) containing the dates you want to format.

Right-click the selected cell(s) and choose Format Cells. The Format Cells dialog box appears.

Click the Number tab.

In the Category list, select Custom.

In the Type text box, type mm/dd/yyyy

Click OK to close the Format Cells dialog box.

Hiding Cell Contents from the Printer

Select the cell(s)

Format | Cells

In the Format Cells dialog box click the Font tab

Click the arrow at the right side of the Color list box and select white from the list

Click OK to close the dialog box and apply your new font color

Print the worksheet without showing the unwanted cells. After you finish printing, select the cells again and set the color back to black (or automatic).

Fill in a series of numbers, dates, or other items

Select the first cell in the range you want to fill in and then enter the starting value for the series.

To increment the series by a specified amount, select the next cell in the range and enter the next item in the series. The difference between the two starting items determines the amount by which the series is incremented.

Select the cell or cells that contain the starting values.

Drag the fill handle over the range you want to fill.

To fill in increasing order, drag down or to the right.

To fill in decreasing order, drag up or to the left.
